So if you’re anything like me, you probably weren’t sitting front row at any of the fashion shows taking place this past month in New York City, London, Milan and Paris. Heck, you weren’t even standing in the back on your tiptoes craning your neck to get a good look at the latest designs for Fall/Winter! Thankfully the Internet is there to give us a glimpse of all the fashion we’d otherwise miss. Although they say a photograph is worth a thousand words, pics from the runway can’t really transport us to the front row.
Music and fashion go hand and hand, and the right music can really set the tone for a collection. That’s why some designers go all out when it comes to a show’s music. Kenzo (as rejuvenated by the geniuses behind Opening Ceremony) commissioned M.I.A. to create a soundtrack for the entire collection, which is pretty cool! So I compiled a list of songs from some of your fav shows to get you in the mood of all the latest collections. Now you can take Fashion Week and bring it with you on your iPod and make every sidewalk your own personal runway! Get ready to stomp it out!
New York Fashion Week
Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win – Beastie Boys feat. Santigold (Sebastian remix) at DKNY: Because it’s New York and Beastie Boys scream N.Y.C.!!
Generationals – Trust at Jill Stuart: For the cool kids.
Elephant – Tame Impala at Marc by Marc Jacobs: Since the show was a 70s psychedelic acid trip.
Yeah Yeah – Willy Moon at Michael Kors: A song to get noticed with, which works really well for a fashion show.
X Offender – Blondie at Jeremy Scott: Blondie was a perfect fit for the fun funky fashions at the Jeremy Scott show.
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor at Alexander Wang: The perfect pump up song! If you don’t feel like strutting to this song (or running up a bunch of stairs) then you must be dead inside.
London Fashion Week
Stone Cold Sober by Paloma Faith at Tom Ford: For the bold and fearless woman in all of us.
Comet – Lonely Drifter Karen at Temperley London: Slightly moody, mysterious, and hypnotic.
All Apologies – Nirvana at Jonathan Saunders: Because the 90s are back. Enough said.
That concludes Part 1, stay tuned for Part 2 where we check out the tracks from Milan and Paris! What are your fav songs to stomp out on the runway to? Let us know.
